Hey guys, I picked up on a few themes: Thailand + Not Much Travel from the airport.
Songkran starts 13/4 and typically goes for 3 days. Its loads of fun. Its optional. It’s everywhere, but you can escape!
Along with recommendations by my Thai friends (they said go to Krabi) I chose a few spots in Phuket (i think the north west or a small section in the far south are ok – patong and surrounds can get ugly).
- Krabi 7 days (1.5 hr drive from Phuket airport, or fly to Krabi intl airport)
Spend some days doing things like:
* Hotel hanging
* Railay
* Island trips
* Emerald pool
* Rock climbing - Phuket 7 days
Spend some days doing things like:
* Hotel hanging
* Phuket town (great food! cute shops)
* John Gray Sea canoe trips – http://www.johngray-seacanoe.com (come highly recommended)
* Go to one of the floating restaurants - Phuket 4 -5 days; offset cost of villa with few cheap days in phuket town or Koh Yao Yai (good old fashioned thai style island vibes)
Boats go to Koh Yao Yai / Koh Yao Noi (35 minutes) from North West of Phuket (near where the villas are located)
* Air BnB Villa hanging in Phuket during Songkran
* Check out Phuket town
* Check out north eastern beaches
* Have a cocktail at one of the crazy resorts on the island’s south for sunset
* Thai style relaxo bungalow on Koh Yao Yai / Koh Yao Noi
* Island chill
* Bike ride round the island

Get your own bungalow (bit on the hill) $100/night or get a jacuzzi one for big spenders
Other options include: PhuPha AoNang Resort (nicer own bungalow for $63 US per night)

Phuket Town
cute townhouses or modern style rooms available in phuket town for $50 per night as an alternative to offset cost of an expensive villa. I know a few cute spots here, but would need to look em up.
